There is alot to catch up on! I am not planning on bombarding you all with a long drawn out post but thought that little by little we will get to what life has been like over the past year.
Right now Id love to start with today! A fresh new day to focus and remember the little accomplishments. And today for me that is how far our new house has already come!!!
One of the things that happened in 2017 was we sold our first home! Yay right?! However we didnt have anything lined up, so we ended up living with my dad and two sibilings for 6 months! We closed on a new home on Febuary 6th 2018!!!! WOOHOO!!
We looked all over and prayed for the Lords hand to be on our next step. We ended up in a little North Ga town on 10 acres, with a awesome creek, pond, and community lake. Needless to say all of the boys are in heaven!
There are so many projects left to do and that have already been done and I cant wait to share them with you all! Please be patient with me since it has been a while. We are loving it here and it is slowly becoming home.
Over all the house is solid but as you will see it needs some updating and some lightening up!
These three pictures above are from our master bedroom. While we LOVE the walls being wide planks the stain on them was not going to work. I had a few quotes from painters and they all suggested using BINZ.
It is a lacquer based primer that would allow us to cover the knots so they wouldn't bleed through and allow for paint to stick to the stained wood and not peal off. It is awesome! It is a little runny which was messy but so far so good! Awesome coverage and easy to work with! It does have a strong ammonia smell to it so be sure to keep the windows open and the fans going! I did two coats of tinted primer on the walls (you can see on the bottom picture the ones that have one and the others that have the second coat on them) and then a thick coat of paint, which I will make a separate post about!
These are in our new sitting/dining/kitchen area. It has beautiful vaulted ceilings and exposed beams, but again there is alot of wood and alot of stain! It is so dark we knew we needed to do something to lighten and brighten it up. We are in the process of finishing this painting project so stay tuned for updates! Again we are using BINZ and its slow going but getting done!
Stay tuned for some update pictures and hopefully done spaces!!
There is so much left to do and so much still to catch up on. However the little accomplishments and the small victories need to be celebrated and remembered. Dont be so hard on yourself friend, your doing great, who cares if your house is a mess and laundry is waiting to be folded. Your kids are happy and smiling and think you are the most perfect mom ever. You're doing great. The journey of self love and the journey to healing is not an over night thing. I have no idea how long it will take but one day at a time, maybe even an hour at a time. But if we dont allow it to take the time but instead we try and make everything perfect or try and make it all ok, it becomes too much.
This post is a little all over the place, however sharing the small accomplishments and being excited about them is a good thing!! So here you go, our small accomplishments and taking all of this one day at a time!!
Not getting caught up in the perfection and the demand for instant transformation but remembering that beautiful, meaningful things take time and love to grow and become what they are meant to be.
Be gentle and be kind, to you.
Brekken
